Clyde & Tina Rhodes

God has worked a wonderful miracle in our lives and given us a very special gift in His timing! Clyde and I have were married in April 2003 (a God ordained story in itself!), and although we were both a little older when we got married, we decided to wait a little while to establish the foundation of our marriage before trying to have children.

When we began to seriously try in 2005, we discovered after a year that, like many couples, we were unable to conceive. We decided to seek medical help. For the next 3 or so years we endured many tests; failed procedures (artificial inseminations, daily injections, and 2 attempts of In-Vitro Fertilization); and the monthly emotional roller coaster that goes along with infertility. It was the greatest time of spiritual darkness and personal questioning of my life, but it built a strong bond between the two of us and taught us both in a way nothing else could about laying down our dreams and trusting our God. Although many folks in the church cared about us, most did not know how to offer support and it was a very lonely time.

Being emotionally exhausted and feeling like God was leading us to lay it down, we decided to stop treatments. In June 2011, after over 2 years of no medical intervention and our mostly coming to peace with not having children, I found out I was pregnant. It was an amazing, unexpected blessing that was certainly a miracle. I had been told that in order to even try another IVF procedure I would have to have surgery. God’s timing was amazing! My parents, who endured 11 years of infertility and surgeries, had their own miracle when I was born 3 months before my mom turned 38. Our little boy, Nathan, was born three months before I turn 38. Although we understand that this is not always the outcome of infertility, we are praising God for our precious miracle and the journey in which He drew us to His heart.

Nathan Elliott Rhodes was born on February 9 at 3:06 p.m. He was 8 lb, 11 oz and 20.5 in. Mommy and baby are doing well and are scheduled to leave the hospital on February 12.
