Coming Clean

February 23, 2014 | Dennis Lacheney

Sometimes little mess ups happen in life, but sin goes way beyond "that wasn't wise" or "I should have done something differently." Sin is defined by what God isn’t; it is anything out of sync with the character of God. Sin is me going against God; it is when I do something outside the design of God's intended/created purpose. God's desire is that we "come clean" by getting rid of the sin in our hearts and lives. As we “come clean” with God, our relationship with Him will be restored/renewed/refreshed and grow. You may very well find it feels so good to get rid of the crud.

Whole-Hearted

The message today comes directly from a story in 2 Samuel 6. The Ark of the Covenant was the item that carried the presence of God for Israel. Somewhere along the way, they lost it to another nation; however, David and his men got it back. As they were bringing the Ark back to Jerusalem, they mishandled it and a man died. As a result, David left the Ark in a home outside of Jerusalem. David eventually realized he needed the Ark back in Jerusalem and that is where this message picks up.

Giant Killers

February 9, 2014 | Dennis Lacheney

Today’s message is connected with one of the most famous stories from the life of David; his encounter with a giant named Goliath. When you think about how small David would have been in comparison to how large Goliath would have been, you can’t help but marvel at the courage of this young shepherd boy! What can we learn from this story about how we can capture courage in our own lives?

You First

In the computer world there is this amazing feature called “keyboard shortcuts”. They allow you to save time by doing complex tasks in a much quicker fashion. One of those shortcuts is: cut, copy, paste. Using the ctrl-c and ctrl-v keys on a keyboard you can save an enormous amount of time from having to type something into a new document that may have already existed in an old one. In 1 Corinthians 10:11 the Bible says the actions of the lives of men and women in Scripture were written for us to learn from so we don’t have to learn things the hard way! Through this series we will look at the life of King David to see what we can glean from his life … so we don’t have to learn it the hard way in ours!
