I realized very quickly that God had been preparing us for this transition for months without us even knowing it. We had been in search of a mini-van never having a peace about buying any one. For weeks we’d had extra food that we didn’t cook during the week and were able to stock our freezer without planning, so that when he lost his job, we only had to buy staples. I had been asking for a full-time position at work, and was finally granted one, our tax return had been delayed.
Amidst much grumbling and complaining from me, I now saw how God was just setting things in place for us to be taken care of during John’s unemployment (I’m pretty sure I need to change my name to Israel at this point). All of these things seemed independent of one another during those circumstances, but now we can see how God was orchestrating even the smallest things to allow us to see his provision and faithfulness in our lives. I’m happy to report that John took another position 3 weeks after his job ended. Its not a perfect job, but it is a job and source of income for our family. I love how God takes care of us even when we don’t see him working!
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
