I have spent many hours wondering and studying, trying to come to the essence of what worship means. I have heard many opinions, often expressed with the words, "Well, what it means to me is...". I have never felt that those statements held the truth, at least not the whole truth. I cannot say that I have arrived at an answer as yet, and I still contend with this question.

The storms of life sometimes will leave us in places where it is hard to stand in faith.  Have you ever been there?  It is a place where your spirit is saying one thing and your flesh another.  A time when the enemy can attack you and tell you that you don’t have any faith.  Don’t listen!  Jesus has paid the price for our victory over every circumstance that we may face.

It’s funny how God can use the natural to teach you His principles.

Recently, I was watching the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships. Before I go any further, let me explain. First, if you have never watched women’s volleyball, I will tell you these ladies can play! Second, Penn State was chasing their third consecutive title…therefore, my interest in the contest. With an unprecedented third title…and a 101 match winning streak at stake…in Penn States grasp, they promptly fell behind by losing the first two sets. Standing on the precipice of defeat and the dream seemingly fading, the girls put aside the frustration of the first two sets to come from behind and win the final three sets to take the championship!

When it Pours, He Reigns!

A few weeks ago the remnant of Tropical Storm Ida came through our area. It rained non-stop for 4 days.  On my commute to work one morning, during this torrential rain storm, I received a call from my sister.  She told me about a song she had just heard on the radio.  The title was "When it Pours, He Reigns". This was a very appropriate song in light of the day's extremely wet weather. We laughed about the irony of the song and ended our phone conversation.
